The evil Left loves the evil UN 6

‘The dismal truth is that the UN is the principal engine for the perpetuation of chaos, terror, misery and injustice across the world.

It is high time we abolished this obscene institution and created instead a United Democratic Nations to promote freedom and justice.’

So writes Melanie Phillips in a must-read article here

    I agree with you, Gary.

    Hi Jillian,

I would first ask you this….if your neighbor’s house is on fire, would you help them, even though your own interests are not directly involved? It’s really a matter of scale. And the world is a smaller place all the time.

The UDN is also about making a statement…that we believe in democracy. By supporting the UN, we are stating just the opposite.

Thank you, Gary. I applaud your values and objectives. Of course, democracies can and often do co-operate without needing an international institution. A very interesting question is: should a wealthy and powerful Western democracy interfere in a country, such as Sudan or Zimbabwe, where none of its own interests are directly involved, in order to save the people there from their own tyrannical governments’ injustice and cruelty?

    Hi Jillian,

I don’t believe in the gross mandate we have with the UN, but there are still activities that would benefit from the coordination of democracies. Darfur is a good current example. Coordination among democracies could only help in the arrest of the thugs ruling that country. This doesn’t necessarily mean invasion or starting wars. It could be as simple as sharing evidence to determine guilt, tracking movement of individuals, etc. The alternative of not helping promote demcracy is both immoral and a lost opportunity.

    Hi, Gary!
    We’ve visited your website.
We’d be very interested to hear why you think any international body – such as the UN, a UDN, or a World Court – is necessary or desirable.

I agree with the need for a United Democratic Nations. Specifically something like this…
