ABC distorts Sarah Palin’s views 2

Here is the transcript of the Gibson interview with Sarah Palin, showing which parts were maliciously edited out to make her seem less knowledgeable than she is, and more hawkish.

There is only one thing she said that we would like to comment on critically (apart from the God stuff which we’ll politely ignore):

‘There is a very small percentage of Islamic believers who are extreme and they are violent and they do not believe in American ideals, and they attacked us …’

If only 1% (say) of 1.2 billion Muslims  are intent on violent jihad, that is an awful lot of people wanting to destroy us!

A brief reply to Anti-Islamaphobia (it could be much longer and more detailed and formally referenced, but this is what space permits here):

The percentage of Muslims (in Britain, for example) who have declared themselves willing to be actively engaged in violent jihad is in fact very much higher than 1% – more like 30%.

The 9/11 terrorists, the London terrorists, the Madrid terrorists and so on and on, declared themselves to be acting in the name of Islam.

The Koran, the hadith, and a multitude of imams command Muslims to wage war on the world of infidels, to use terror, to spread Islam with the sword.

Despite that being a large number (of Islamacist radicals), we must take a relativistic argument. The small percentage means that we cannot say that Islam is the enemy in the war on terror.
