Goodnight America 13

Yesterday, by a majority of 1,057,148* (a figure we have just derived from the Drudge Report), Americans chose to give up liberty by re-electing the socialist Islam-lover Barack Obama to the presidency.

And so “government of the people, by the people, for the people” is perishing, contrary to President Lincoln’s hope.

It is no wild exaggeration but a sober truth that Obama prefers to govern in the manner of a tyrant, against liberty in principle, and destructive of it in practice.

Thomas Sowell gives a few of many possible examples of Obama’s contempt for American Constitutional democracy:

The checks and balances of the Constitution have been evaded time and time again by the Obama administration, undermining the fundamental right of the people to determine the laws that govern them, through their elected representatives.

You do not have a self-governing people when huge laws are passed too fast for the public to even know what is in them.

You do not have a self-governing people when “czars” are created by Executive Orders, so that individuals wielding vast powers equal to, or greater than, the powers of Cabinet members do not have to be vetted and confirmed by the people’s elected representatives in the Senate, as Cabinet members must be.

You do not have a self-governing people when decisions to take military action are referred to the United Nations and the Arab League, but not to the Congress of the United States, elected by the American people, whose blood and treasure are squandered. You do not have a self-governing people when a so-called “consumer protection” agency is created to be financed by the unelected officials of the Federal Reserve System, which can create its own money out of thin air, instead of being financed by appropriations voted by elected members of Congress who have to justify their priorities and trade-offs to the taxpaying public.

You do not have a self-governing people when laws passed by the Congress, signed by previous Presidents, and approved by the federal courts, can have the current President waive whatever sections he does not like, and refuse to enforce those sections, despite his oath to see that the laws are faithfully executed.

Barack Obama … has refused to carry out sections of the immigration laws that he does not like, unilaterally creating de facto amnesty for those illegal immigrants he has chosen to be exempt from the law. The issue is not — repeat, NOT — the wisdom or justice of this President’s immigration policy, but the seizing of arbitrary powers not granted to any President by the Constitution of the United States.

You do not have a self-governing people if President Obama succeeds in having international treaties under United Nations auspices govern the way Americans live their lives, whether with gun control laws or other laws. …

The desire to circumvent the will of the American people was revealed even more ominously when Barack Obama said to Russian President Medvedev – when he thought the microphone was off – that, after he is reelected and need never face the voters again, he can be more “flexible” with the Russians about missile defense.

There are other signs of Obama’s contempt for American Constitutional democracy, but these should be more than enough. Dare we risk how far he will go when he never has to face the voters again, and can appoint Supreme Court justices who can rubber stamp his power grabs?

A majority of 1,057,148 chose to force the nation to risk it.

America is no longer the political embodiment of the idea of liberty.

Thomas Sowell ends by asking rhetorically –

Will this still be America in 2016?

No.

It seems that the argument here is that Romney lost because he was too Conservative. But if you go to Conservative blogs you will see that they are arguing that Romney lost because he was too liberal/libertarian; ie he was pro-gay-marriage, pro-amnesty, pro-choice.

Now I wish Romney advocated the elimination of the welfare state, the regulatory state, the Federal Reserve and the victimless crime laws. But that would make him a bonafide libertarian. That is a wet dream in today’s world. But I wonder, did he lose because of his religiosity or because of his social liberalism? I don’t know.

Frank – you are not to be blamed with all the silly misinformation that has been put out during this election. Please allow me to set that misinformation straight.

Romney was governor of a blue state, even though he is Mormon and consevative. He is not personally pro gay marriage, that goes directly against his religion, and he is an “good mormon”. Unlike some other politicians of conservative religious stripe however, he has not try to shove his religion down the throats of his constituency. Massachussetts wanted gay marriage, so he said this is a state issue and if this is what the majority want… He was interested in good and effficient management. The same with pro choice. He does not like abortion, it flies directly in the face of his religion, that is not the same thing as pro choice.

Mormons believe in free agency above all else. They do not as a rule preach to their non mormon friends. If you ask question, they would love to hook you up with a missionary. Romney initially interpreted “free Agency” to equate to pro choice, but later rethought that position, who’s politics has not been a little influenced when one is surrounded by moderating voices.
Romney believes in a strong Military as do most Mormons, therefore he is not Libertarian.
Eliminating the welfare state is not the same as abolition of welfare. What he was saying was that, like most conservatives, to many otherwise able bodied individuals, are rapidly increasing the welfare roles. He also believed in more social programs being returned to the states, who can more closely model, and effectively administer, to the needs of its citizens. The distortions have been endless. The Liberals have effectively turned the silly right wing christians on themselves through a clever campaign of misinformation. I hope this was informative, it is unfortunately too late to be helpful.

Long shot chance at bringing down Obama and Clinton:

Netenyahu sensing the tide is turning with Obama’s reelection finds pretext or simply orders bombing of Iranian uranium enrichment bunkers in advance of Israeli parliamentery elections in January. Iran and allied groups attack Israel (but not US; this by prior arrangement with Obama via Putin).

Israel is attacked but Obama orders military not to go to its aid. The Military revolts and goes to Israels defense anyways with the support of many in Congress… much chaos ensues.

… well it would be a good movie in any event;-)

Long shot chance #2: a vengeful Navy Seal …. and Obama forgets the third rule in a crisis situation… “duck”

  • liz

Jillian, you are absolutely right. It’s over, if this is allowed to stand.

I’m still sick with outrage over this. It’s the same feeling I had when Clinton got re-elected, only a million times worse. I just cannot stand to accept that there are this many utterly brainwashed, brain-dead, stupid IDIOTS in this country, who are now patting themselves on the back for what a wonderful thing they have accomplished by excersizing their right to vote.

Totally oblivious to the fact that with that vote they destroyed not only their rights, but everyone elses, too. But as long as they keep getting their free stuff, they don’t care. Ignorance is bliss!

My only hope is that Benghazi will bring him impeachment, but why am I fooling myself. Dictators are above such puny things.

    • Jillian Becker

I feel as you do, Liz. I hope as you do too, that he may yet be impeached over Benghazi. But the GOP has become so flaccid that I I know the hope is frail. So there is no consolation to be had. All we can do is commiserate with one another.

      • liz

Yes, while the U.N. and the EPA proceed on with Agenda 21, and while the Muslim Brotherhood proceeds on with establishing an American Caliphate, Eric Holder proceeds on enabling the Black Panthers and Mexican cartels…etc, etc…. in other words, while they all proceed on with the royal screwing they’re giving us that began in 2008, we can commiserate… Know any good therapists?

Hi Kids… ummmm… right!! need to write the GOP a Viagra prescription …anyways, since I am feeling better now and ready to be a bull in the china shop once again, I am trying to see how quickly I can get myself banned from the “Secular Right”… because I’m still annoyed… that they were kinda right in a very limp wrist cold analytical gutless whiney “whaddaya gonna do?” apologist sort of way…

        Here is my first attempt:

I agree with Frank. Romney had to suck up to Christian extremists to win the nomination which ruined his chances to win the election.

    • liz

The irony of it! I wonder how many of those Christians he sucked up to wouldn’t even vote for him because he’s a Morman? They are that stupid.

    • Frank

There were two GOP candidates for the Senate that said, “If a woman gets raped and becomes pregnant it must be god’s will.” They both were against abortion even in the case of rape. Both of those asshats were defeated. And how do you think women reacted to a party that would nominate those two idiots? Obama had a 10% edge over Romney with women voters and there are more female voters than male.

  • Frank

Obama should send a Thank You Card to the religious right. The religious right has destroyed the GOP and now Obama will finish destroying America.

I think a certain number of Evangelicals at the final moment were not able to hold their nose and vote for a Mormon. That may have been the difference in Ohio.
