Why Obama was elected president 20

The election of Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States was a calamitous mistake. It could be the predominant factor in the collapse of our Western civilization, which seems to be underway and gathering pace.

It was a mistake made by millions of people who meant well.

Well-meaning, unaccompanied by intelligent thinking about consequences, is all too often the cause of calamity.

Matt Patterson, in an article at Canada Free Press, calls Obama “the affirmative action president”. Here’s part of what he writes:

Years from now, historians [if there will be any- JB] may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria … How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world’s largest economy, direct the world’s most powerful military, execute the world’s most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama’s pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a “community organizer”; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote “present”); and finally an unaccomplished single term in United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as legislator.

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama’s “spiritual mentor”; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama’s colleague and political sponsor.

What is more, and never as far as we know pointed out: he does not seem to have had any friends or associates who were not Marxists and/or terrorists and/or America-haters.

It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass.”

Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass — held to a lower standard — because of the color of his skin. …

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon — affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. …

Affirmative action is a racist policy, he rightly says. He goes on:

Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin — that’s affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn’t racism, then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama. …

And he concludes:

Our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense.

Add his deliberate weakening of America as a power in the world – a contributary cause of numerous wars, uprisings, civil wars, persecutions, and massacres happening now – to appreciate the size of the mistake those American voters made who elected Obama in order merely to feel good about themselves.

TheTrueMandrew nailed it right on the head and I checked that I liked your commentary.  Well put and accurate !

  • Liz

Yes, that nails it – “well meaning, unaccompanied by intelligent thinking about consequences”.  Thats what got Jimmy Carter elected by “born again” voters.  Now he’s the second worst President in history.  The “affirmative action” voters have outdone them and provided us with the worst one.  Why is it so hard to generate any intelligent thinking these days?  Here we are, over 200 years into the history of the greatest nation on earth, and apparently the best reasons the majority of our citizens can come up with to vote for someone is their race, gender, or religion.  Or, if they’re REAL intellectual, they might go for Marxism.  Seriously???

    • George

Very simple Liz ,  it’s because people don’t THINK anymore. People only go along to get along and follow the crowd in order to “fit in” and be  accepted. People are now afraid to do the right thing . People worldwide now basically engage in “group think” or they  “jump on the popular bandwagon” mindset.  People today are simply humanoid robots or homo sapien puppets.  People today cannot think indpendently for themselves [ outside the box ] but have a “herd” mentality.  They are mindless , like [ The Borg ] on Star Trek ——– all think and act alike . People today DO NOT analyze anything , do independent research, verify news sources and information, question authority and even peers, and constiuents. People today have become THE LIVING DEAD or rather THE LIVING BRAIN-DEAD.
A large percentage of our world population are hopeless and unchangeable.  People only know their life-long indoctrination and anything you or I say to the contrary to them is considered to be either blasphemy or anti-them ( whatever that may be ).  Critical and logical thinking is not taught in schools or the home.  Rational and reasonable thinking is unheard of to them. They actually have been so indoctrinated ( brainwashed ) to believe that the superstitious belief systems  they embrace are  all true , just and noble. They actually believe that people  who think  differently than themselves are misguided or brainwashed or idiots.  They actually believe that people who don’t  embrace THEIR belief-system are  evil , immoral, amoral, and are just lost souls.
This is the power that religion , propaganda politics and political/societal influences have on the human mind and subsequently on human behavior.

      • Liz

Your right, George – people have become brain-dead – because of the deliberate “dumbing down” of both religious and public education systems. The religious have been dumbing it down since before Galileo; the leftists a bit later…

  • George

Obama was elected President simply because a bunch of dumb a** voters who are ignorant of who that man really is put him in office because they were and are so freakin’ brainwashed and hoodwinked by the biased media and political pundits.
Obama was elected President because he used his charm and eloquent speech to bamboozle the voting public into thinking they were going to get a better society under him than what they had under Bush. They ( the public ) fell for it.  They ( the public ) were conned. They  ( the public ) were deceived. They ( the public ) were suckered.
Obama knew what he was talking about when he said he was going to transform America. It’s the voting public that didn’t know what he meant and they voted for that con man and now that he is in office he is destroying America.  He promised change. Oh sure ,we got change alright——- a change for the worse.  Oh sure we got change alright ——- nothing but change left in our pockets
Here we have Obama giving away billions upon billions of dollars to foreign countries, rebuilding Middle Eastern nations , and has us currently involved in 3 wars and our economy is in shambles with an outrageous unemployment rate in America , people going bankrupt, people losing jobs in droves and Obama continues to put out the same ole propaganda and yet the stupid fool citizenry continue to fall for it nonstop.
If we don’t have a major turnaround in this country , we are going to lose our great nation just like great societies before us have fallen.
This morning on a talk radio program , I heard that Obama is releasing illegal Mexican aliens via a “backdoor” amnesty program in Georgia. Whyb should anyone apply for citizenship if they can just walk across the bordern and become legal citizens.  Look at what NAFTA has done with heards of Mexican trucks that have failed over a million  inspections and are bringing drugs and illegals in massive numbers into our nation in uninspected/unsearched  vehicles.  This is simple madness.  Look what kind of corrupt misfits we have running our great country . It’s no wonder we are in the shape we’re in —–go figure !

  • Les.w(UK)

How on earth was he elected? Well, Hitler was elected, as was (to some extent) Hamas, Mugabe, etc. Not that Obama is quite as bad as Hitler… But it raises some interesting questions about the state of Western culture. The decline in standards of education (here in the UK  due to a depressingly socialist and incompetent educational establishment) means an declining standard of decision making ability in the electorate. Combine with an equally low standard of political analysis  in a shockingly biased mass media, and you get – Obama. Here, despite obvious evidence during their first term in office of how corrupt and incompetent they were, Labour were re-elected again and again. However, this was partly due to the opposition Conservatives being in disarray for years. Which is another major factor – the poor quality of political parties and politicians throughout the Western world nowadays, making voter choice even more difficult. It seems that both in the US and here, that the more intelligent, rational, and knowledgeable a politician is, the less likely they are to get to the top.
Nevertheless, the proliferation of right-minded websites, and other signs, show a growing response to counteract the decline (not yet a collapse!) of the West – there is life, and hope, yet in our civilisation.

    • George

I agree with you Les , and the reason the more rational , intelligent , and knowledgeable a person is , the more that person will not get to the top is because such an individual wiil not pander to the socialist agenda and the moochers of society and/or “political correctness” .  Such a person is educated to what is really going on and what truly must be done instead of catering to a mob-group think dubious agenda.
Such a person will do the [ right thing ] instead of the [ popularly accepted thing ].  Power  corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely !    I’m sure you’ve heard that one before . NONE of these politicians care aout the people in general as a whole but rather  they only care about their political, religious and social agendas and anyone else on the outside be damned.
A long time ago I actually visioned that the world would have come together by now in world peace and harmony and we would have such an advanced world society where nearly everyone was prospering with a suffcient life and people as a whole globally respected one another.   Ha ! ——   and to think Martin Luther King had a dream. We’ve gone backwards. How sad !

  • bornagainpagan

Soft Bigotry of Really Low Expectations! and that Benjamin guy has SOME sense of humour  ;  )

    • George

I’m with you on that one bornagainpagan , but I doubt seriously if it was any sense of humor. Just my opinion !

  • Affirmative action and white guilt may sum it up

  • Oh, for goodness sake! What the hell are you all talking about?  Bush gets us into a huge economic mess and it’s Obama’s fault?  I do believe Obama’s economic strategy pulled the country back from the brink.  No more are traders able to run drunk on the stock floor like they’re in a damn casino trading credit-default swaps.    The health care bill is totally paid for and is according to the CBO to lower the deficit by over $900 billion in the 1st ten years and $1.2 trillion in the 2nd decade.   I’m no real big fan of Obama but at least I can be even handed in analysis.       Also, not a year after Obama goes to Cairo to give a speech about Muslim and American relations to the countries begin to fall and Obama has only to give verbal and air support to various revolutions in the several countries in the Middle East.  I’m probably not as conservative as a lot of you here but all of what I just said is true.
Also as atheists, you should be for things like the Lilly Ledbetter Act where women finally get equal pay to men for the equal work and things like the hate-crimes bill.  Are you?
You may not be for the stimulus bills but they are credited for saving AND creating 2 million jobs.  And the conservative reps in Congress sure hate the “porkulus” bil but sure love those projects in their home districts.  How is that consistent?
    Come on.

    • George

Benjamin are you for real for crying out loud.  What do you mean by what the hell are  WE  all talking about ?  We all ?   First of all the health care bill ( now law ) is NOT paid for and hasn’t actually kicked in.  The Middle class or tax payers in general have no legal obligation to pay for other people’s health care . Health care should be made competitive and affordable but one segment of the country is NOT obligated to take care of the other segment .
As far as women getting equal pay , the reason that more men on an average have higher wages than the average woman is because men choose fields and careers that pay considerably higher salaries than those careers chosen by women. This has absolutely nothing  to do with discrimination and has been proven by documented and verifiable research. As farthis  hate-crimes nonsense ,  who eve heard of a love crime ? Crime is a crime and just because a criminal has a  certain feeling or prejudice  behind their criminal act  doesn’t make it more or less of a crime .
I was never a fan of Bush and even Bush engaged in out of control reckless government spending but absolutely nothing like this nut Obama. There is no comparison. We had tremendous debt under Bush but Obama multiplied it and our economy is now in a tailspin.  More and more people are having “voter’s remorse ” for voting for Obama and now regrtet it.   People are more and more out of work and losing their jobs and the economy is in shambles .  The stimulus bill did NOT create 2 million jobs. that is a farce.   Where are you getting this crap ?
If you had just stated that you disagreed with what was posted and stated your points would be one thing but for you to come on here makiing an arrogant statement of—- ” What the hell are you all talking about  ? ” is another. What the  %$#@  are you talking about ?  You claim that all you have said is true —–    Nonsense !  I can’t speak for anyone else but I certainly have never made any claim of any post or comment being consistent. The economic problems came about by both corporate and political corruption and it wasn’t and still hasn’t been solved by some tax-payer tons of money  “stimulus ” money thrown out by Obama.   What’s even worse is that Obama kept the same inept and corrupt people in the positions who screwed things up in the first freaking place.  That was utterly stupid and assinine !

      • LOL, George.  You’re funny!  Obama multiplied the debt?  Ha, ha!  You’re telling me the debt was $7 trillion before Obama came into office?  That patently false.
People are “losing their jobs?”  Why after each month the economy is gaining jobs? I would agree with you if said that people were not getting jobs fast enough, but you didn’t say that.  BTW, if you bothered to read my post I said that the Stimulus “Saved and Created” 2 million jobs.  See that would be a mix of both.  SEE?  Oh, by the way, those figures are put out by the Department of Labor.
I agree with you that people don’t want to pay for other’s health insurance, but one of the reasons that heath care costs are so high is that there is a whole shitload of people who go to emergency room without insurance, get expensive tests done, and then pass the cost on to people like US who end up paying the inflated price.
BTW, the heath care bill is basically, as Tim Pawlenty put it,  “Obam-ney Care”.  Which was modeled after Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts plan, which was also the Republican Health Care Plan in 1994 which also had an individual mandate.  I don’t get it.  Why would Republicans run so far and fast from something they proposed only 15 years ago?  I know:  it’s because a Democrat proposed it now.
And what the hell about about the Fair Pay Act?  Never did I say that a women who DIDN’T do the same work get the SAME wage.  Are you really reading what I wrote?
And another BTW, you call me arrogant, when you and your kin here accuse Obama voters of “white guilt” or being “bamboozled” by the media.  They voted for Obama because McCain didn’t look like a leader and Sarah Palin scared the shit out of regular votes.  That’s why Obama won by 10,000,000 votes.  Moderate put him over the top, not Liberals and blacks who voted for him just because he was black.  You’re wrong there…and just plain arrogant in your assumptions.
You know, sometimes this mix of Ayn Rand,  MBA, and libertarian thinking can actaully, for what you call “thinking” really cloud one’s thinking.

        • George

First of  all Benjamin you are the one who obviously  didn’t read my comment correctly.  I never called YOU arrogant.  I said the original comment you made  was indeed arrogant.    Here’s the quote from you —  ”  What the hell are you all talking about ” .     Yes , that was indeed arrogant.   If you didn’t agree with something posted then you could have said you didn’t agree and posted why and we could simply discuss it—- -so you started the abbrasive diatribe ( not me ).  You call me funny. Go look into the mirror if you want  to see funny. Look whos calling who names . So therefore your allegation of me is false.  Furthermore you misinterpreted my statement regarding equal pay as well.  I’m well aware of our debt status now and also back when Bush was in office and I  have all the statistics from a multitude of  official sources , and I don’t need the redundancy or a refresher course from you.
As I stated before ,  I  am NOT a fan of Bush or of Palin and I’m certainly by a  tremendous scale NOT a fan of Obama. I will give you credit for one thing that’s for sure  and that is the statement that the deciding votes were not liberals or blacks but moderates .  I’ve said that all along.   You say I’m wrong there . No I’m not wrong because once again you’re misinterpreting my statement. And here you go again with another arrogant comment , and I quote ———” …when you and your kin accuse Obama voters …….” .    My kin ? What makes them my kin ?  Did  I accuse you of having some kinship with those who you side with ? You can do better than that or I would hope so.
And now here you go posting off topic by bringing  up  Ayan Rand , MBA and libertarian thinking and ranting about clouding one’s thinking. Oh I see, anyone who doesn’t agree with Benjamin has clouded thinking.  Yeah right. Actually I’m NOT a Republican and  I certainly don’t in any sense support the Republican agenda ( and by the way I never accused you of asserting such just for the record ). According to many polls and surveys 71%  of Americans did NOT want Obamacare but Obama and Nancy Pelosi and his other cohorts pushed it upon the people anyway ( and oh yes , people like you and I are the ones who will be footing the bill most certyainly ).  Oh by the way Benjamin , I do indeed give you credit and agree with your statement about people going to the emergency room and getting a sh**load of care and passing the costs on to you and me.  While you’re suggesting that I go back and read your statement,  I  in turn  suggest that you also SIR go back and read mine.    Have a nice day Benjamin !

          Some figures:

The national debt was $5.727 trillion on Jan. 20, 2001, the day George W. Bush took office.

The debt increased to $10.626 trillion on Jan. 20, 2009, the day Barack Obama took office (increase of $4.899 trillion over 2922 days, for a rate of $1.677 million/day – yes, the $7 trillion was an incorrect number).

Today is August 25, 2011, and the estimated national debt at this point in the Obama administration stands at $14,655,906,129,344.16 (increase of $4.030 trillion over 947 days, for a rate of $4.255 billion/day).Conclusion: Obama is over three magnitudes more wasteful than Bush when it comes to the government spending other people’s money, and both of them are the most socialistic presidents in American history.

  • wmarkw

Obama won because there was no way the Republicans were going to win the election that year, and 51% of Democratic primary voters are of the “America is a nation of anti-environment, anti-gay, anti-feminist, anti-immigrant, anti-minority bigots” camp.

He’s the only person who I absolutely knew was going to be President the first time  I’d ever heard of him (2004 convention keynote speech).

    • George

Actually that figure is higher than the 51% estimate. A large or significant percentage of registered voters don’t  vote and a large or significant percentage are not even registered .  Many voters have no thorough working knowledge of politics or how government works ( or rather is suppose to work ) but they go for what political figure panders to their selfish  agendas and wants.
Obama ( just like Bill Clinton ) has the charm and appeal and also the eloquent speech and he puts forth the “right” keyword talking point phrases that deceives the  American populace.
Obama worked his “charm” and told the American people just what they wanted to hear ( that coupled with the fact that  they had enough of Bush )  which  “sealed the deal”   for the voters.   Obama knew in advance what his scheme was going to be to “transform” America into his race-baiting  ,  Marxist socialist and pro-Muslim utopia .
The liberal white female is the largest  voting “block” in America according to many scientific studies , and considering that the feminist/liberal media / and “political correctness” crowd pushed Obama into the spotlight and “built him up” , the gullible populace swallowed it –“hook, line and sinker “.  He was  a “shoe in” just like  Clinton.  The problem we should be concerned with now is to expose his corruptness and let the American people see how they have been hoodwinked in order to save America and our children’s future and also future generations thereafter. We all need to make a grass-roots effort to get real pro-American politicians into public office.   The other problem we face is that in our country,  the more conservative the politician is , the more of a radical right wing pro-Christian fundamentalist zealot the individual is and such individuals are certainly NOT pro-secular.  In fact  such individuals are actually staunchly anti-atheist.  In such a scenario , we are not only caught in a delema , or between a rock and a hard place ( the lesser of the two evils -so to speak ) but we’re  trapped perpetually in an anti-freethought society that abhors secular freethought  and freethinkers in general.  We’re screwed either way ( just one lesser than the other ). Now we have to choose and the sand is running out of the hour glass.

      • George

Here’s an update and correction on previous comment.  It’s from an article in The New york Post –[ Terrifying the left ]  Bachmann & the women’s vote by J.T Young
An excerpt reads — ” Women are  America’s majority voting bloc : 52 % of the electorate in 2010 , 53% in 2008 , 51% in 2006 and 54% in 2004 , and Democrats have received most of this majority’s support— besting Republicans by 14 percentage points in 2008 and 6 in 2004. This is why Palin and Bachmann drive liberals to distraction. To have their hold on women voters threatened -and by a conservative woman – jeopardizes it for the long term “.

  • George

Obama was voted into office because many people hated Bush and by voting for Obama, it was considered a protest vote per se agains Bush  ( or a matter of being ethnic minority friendly ) .   In addition, many whites voted for Obama out of a “white guilt” complex ,  anti-Bush sentiments  and because so many  in our nation are leaning more and more toward PC politics and the mainstream  media supported and propelled him tremendously.  Many blacks voted for Obama simply because of his ethnicity ( and no more ) and he was a far left liberal Democrat ( and many blacks have been conned into thinking that liberals are the friends of blacks ).
Actually Obama is not [ black ] or [ African-American ].  His mother is white and his father is black which makes him literally a half-breed or bi-racial, or multi-ethnic or of mixed-race.    He is just as much equally European-American as much as  African-American. I hate hyyphenated names ( it’s divisive ).  Race is not the issue, but rather his political actions, beliefs and attitude toward  America is.  If there was such a race as Klingons, Vulcans, or Romulans , I would vote for a president that was a member of any of those races ( ok , ok , ok, I watch a lot of Star Trek —my bad ). Anyway , as I was saying, ethnicity is not the issue but QUALIFICATIONS are .  Obama was never qualified to be president in the first place.  Hillary Clinton was never qualified to hold her position and was only put there by the radical feminist and liberal media influence and because she is related to Bill  Clinton .    Neither of these individuals know anything about the proper way of running a country.
People in our country are puppets of the mainstream media and their misinformed & misguided peers.  People didn’t realize that by voting for Obama , they were voting toward the demise of America.  Obama and his neo-Marxist mentality is the scourge of our great nation. Hopefully next election , people will wake up and vote  a true pro-American individual into  the office of the presidency before we lose our great nation forever.

    • Frank

As usual George your remarks are right on the mark!
