The woman who cannot tell the difference 3
… between the true and the false.
Judge Jeanine Pirro talks about the dishonest woman who wants to be president.
Detroit: dilapidation by Democratic design 9
This trailer of a forthcoming documentary by Ben Howe, Bankrupt: How Cronyism and Corruption Brought Down Detroit, gives a tantalizing glimpse of a story that is to the extreme discredit – thoroughly deserved – of the Democrats and their central planning.
Detroit has been ruined by Democrats. What happened to Detroit is what can happen to the whole country if Democrats are allowed to stay in power for long enough.
Steven Hayward comments at PowerLine:
I especially like the item about how people are actually having deceased family members disinterred to be reburied outside the city. Things are really bad when it’s thought unfit for even dead people to stay inside city limits.
We sympathize. We wouldn’t care to be stuck in Detroit, alive or dead.
And our reader and commenter Frank sends us this video which, as he says, takes a more in-depth view of the same subject:

Signs of Democrats’ desperation over the scandalous tragedy of Benghazi 223
A big effort is underway to let former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (in particular, we surmise, since Democrats want her to be their 2016 presidential candidate), and President Obama, and former US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice off the hook for lying about the Obama terrorist attack that killed the US Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans on 9/11/12.
The New York Times has done its bit with an “in depth” investigation. It tries, first, to make critics of the Banghazi fiasco seem to have lied by suggesting that they blamed al-Qaeda, and the NYT finding is that “al-Qaeda was not involved”. But al-Qaeda affiliates were involved. And in any case the involvement of al-Qaeda was not the most vital point in the case against the administration, above all the State Department, for their mishandling of the whole tragic affair.
More urgently the NYT claims that no lie was told by Hillary Clinton, Obama and Rice because the obscure video they blamed for provoking a “spontaneous” attack by sadly hurt Libyans was the cause of the onslaught. If the attackers are suddenly telling that story now to the NYT, which clearly wanted to elicit that answer, how likely is it they are telling the truth?
Here is a discussion of the issue on NBC news.
Arguments for liberty 12
This video of Friedrich Hayek talking to students gets to be most interesting – we think – round about the 16 minute mark, when he explains why the monopoly power of government to issue money should be taken away from it. He goes on to argue against the idea of “social justice”. Justice applies to individuals, not “a state of affairs”. Most interesting of all, perhaps, is the case he makes against the idea that individuals who “do good” directly to other individuals are the great benefactors of society. On the contrary, the “selfish” people who produce goods for profit do far more good to far more people, indirectly. Towards the end he makes the point that the more complex a society is, the less able government is to understand its needs and plan for them.
The Muslim menace denounced in Switzerland 95
Except for a quotation from Martin Luther (“Here I stand. I can do no other.”) and another from Leviticus (“Love thy neighbor”), we like this speech by Swiss MP Oskar Freysinger against the encroachment and subversion of Islam in Europe.
A rousing speech. Almost a cry “To arms!”
But not quite. Our guess is that nothing effective will result from it.
We can only be glad that in at least one country in suicidal Europe it is still possible to speak the truth about Islam, and denounce its hideous creed, without the speaker being prosecuted and threatened with fines and imprisonment.

Casual terrorism – Islamic of course 19
From CNN:
An horrific video – the worst apparently edited out of it – of a terrorist attack in Yemen.
Terrorists explode bombs in a hospital and shoot staff and patients.
Such an attack is far from rare in many parts of the Islamic Middle East.
Jon Stewart on NSA 32
We found this funny. We also like the fact that at last some media persons on the left are mocking Obama.
Readers: What is your opinion of NSA spying?
Do you think it is justified if it keeps us safe from terrorist attacks?

In Ohio, a “focus group” of former Obama supporters express their disappointment in him:
The video and text come from an article by Carol Platt Liebau at Townhall here.
These people are pitiful in their disillusionment and disappointment, but frankly, it’s hard to feel too sorry for them. After all, what did they really know about President Obamas’s record before he moved into The White House? Did they realize he had been an Illinois state senator a scant four years before being elected the leader of the free world? Were they aware that he was the most liberal member of the US Senate — which means he was to the left of Barbara Boxer, Teddy Kennedy, and self-described socialist Bernie Sanders?
Did they know that he had never run anything but a US Senate campaign (in which he ran largely unopposed) and a presidential campaign (in which he ran against John McCain – so again, largely unopposed)? Did they realize he had no demonstrable “work product” from his life besides two books written about himself? …
And at least one of them may actually have been written by someone else – his terrorist friend, Bill Ayers. (See here and here.)
At great cost, let’s hope America’s learned a valuable lesson. Though it can be fun to have a President who can make good speeches [?] and seem cool, it’s essential that s/he has a solid record of leadership and achievement in a position of responsibility; understands economics; and possesses at least a shade of realism and commitment to promoting American strength and interests in foreign affairs. Of course, just a little humility would occasionally be nice, too.
And it would be nice to know that independents everywhere, who helped make the man-child president of the United States (!), regret it – enough not to let another Saul Alinsky disciple, Hillary Clinton, succeed him.
The decision maker 38
In this video it is said that Valerie Jarrett was in the situation room on 9/11/2012 when the terrorist raid on the US mission in Benghazi was carried out. It is also said that she gave the “stand down” order. We can accept all that as likely to be true.
What we find hard to believe is that her reason for giving the “stand down” order to stop any military rescue of the beleaguered Americans was because she feared failure – as is claimed here.
We also don’t think it probable that Jarrett’s reason for trying to stop the killing of Osama bin Laden – which she did for some months – was fear of failure.
We suspect her reasons had more to do with her sympathies being for Islam rather than America.
We do not quarrel with the accusation of treason. And we would like Obama to be impeached. But we don’t think he will be.
